call for faculty applications: Climate catalyst internship 2026-27

The Climate Catalyst Internship Program invites University of Toronto faculty to propose research projects developed in partnership with a non-governmental or Indigenous organization in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA).

Selected projects receive funding to support a graduate student intern who will work with the faculty supervisor and community partner to advance research addressing a community-identified climate action need.

Bring community knowledge and help shape a project that responds to a meaningful need.

Lead research activities and contribute to knowledge mobilization and community impact.

What makes a strong CCIP project?

Strong proposals will demonstrate:


Climate action relevance

The project addresses a meaningful climate action issue.


Community partnership & reciprocity

The research is shaped through a meaningful relationship with the community partner.


Community impact

The work has potential to produce useful outcomes for the partner or broader community.


Graduate student learning

The project provides meaningful opportunities for the student to develop research, leadership, and knowledge mobilization skills.


Feasibility

The proposed research can realistically be completed within the internship period.
